The club hope to bring in a long term loan striker, thats of the player agrees to the move.
Any deal will be expected to be compleated by the beginning of next week and the club hope to get permission to play the player in next Wednesday's Carling Cup clash against Hull City.

Crewe have already been linked with a fair few players during the summer including Craig Lindfield (Liverpool), Lee Barnard (Spurs), Fraizer Campbell (Man Utd) and Nick Chadwick (Plymouth Argyle)

Crewe's technical director Dario Gradi told www.crewealex.net "We have had a break through this morning. We have had a call confirming that there is a player we would like who is available to take on loan.

"It is now up to the player because we would be interested in taking him if he ants to come here. It is now up to the player to decide what he wants to do and he certainly won't be in the team for Saturday.

"He would be one of those players, who would start in the team. I wouldn't like to start with Shaun Miller and Nicky Maynard every week, because I don't think they can cope with playing 50 games a season. I would like to play one of them and have that other bigger striker alongside them.
