Within ten minutes of the second half Michael Hughes and Neil Shipperley made it 5-2, Asaba tried to bring back some pride for the Potters with a penalty 7 minutes from time but Routledge completed the rout for Palace in the final minute making it 6-3.
Coventry, in 14th place, lost 2-0 to league leaders Norwich, who sit 5 points clear, and Cardiff, in 12th and 3 points above us, lost to second place West Brom 2-1. Last weekends opponents Walsall could have moved within a point of us as they played Nottm Forest. It was Joe Kinnears first match as Forest manager and it seemed to be going wrong for him from the 5th minute on. Andy Impey put Forest ahead but Walsall made it 3-1 by the break. Kinnear, well known for getting his teams fired up, got Forest out for the restart and by the final whistle his team had won him a point. 3-3 the final score.
We stay 15th in the league table and have 1 game in hand over the 3 teams immediately above us, Cardiff City, Stoke City & Coventry City. That game in hand, though, is against Sheffield United.
