Crewe are expected to enquire about Tottenham Hotspur's Lee Barnard again as the Railwaymen look to for some fire power after the departure of Luke Varney.

Barnard was linked with a move to Gresty Road but it was believed that the club wanted him to train and have a few pre-season games under his belt.
Barnard starred in a Spurs XI 7-2 win at Dartford where he scored on of Spurs seven goals, he also had a run out last Thursday against St. Patrick's Athletic when he came on for Darren Bent in the 69th minute.

22-year-old Barnard has been a prolific scorer in the Spurs reserve side who play in the Barclays Reserve League South.

Barnard has had a taste of lower league football when he was loaned out to Exeter City (2002), Leyton Orient (2004-05) and Northampton Town (2005) and also a stint at Conference club Stevenage Borough in 2004.

Barney as he is know round Spurs came through the academy ranks and signed professional forms back in 2002.

Last season an ankle injury sustained in pre-season kept him out for most of the season.
He did return in time to score two goals in three reserve appearances and win a place in a number of first team squads. Spurs will now look set to send him out on loan to gain more valuable experiance.
