Dario Gradi decided to pick five defenders in David Wright Stephen Foster, Richard Walker, Adie Moses and Chris McCready, a further indication of the clubs reluctance to give Sodje responsiblity.

After Sodje was sent off in February against Wigan Athletic, an angry Gradi claimed that he would never play for the club again. However, after David Wright and Chris McCready suffered injuries, he had a change of heart and even Dario would have to admit that Sodje put in some solid performances.

The two have not got on from the beginning, with the experienced boss often singling out Sodje for defensive blunders, especially in the relegation season of 2001-02.

This latest setback seems certain to hasten the 30-year-old's departure from Gresty Road.

A club spokesman today confirmed that Dario Gradi has no plans for the World Cup star next season, report Yahoo! Sport.

"He's knows he's not part of the managers plans and is available for transfer.  He has one year left on his contract but has been told he won't be a first-team regular."
