Crewe are showing interst in signing Eugen Bopp from relegated Rotherham United but may face stiff competition from another League One club.

23-year-old Bopp came through the youth ranks at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and moved to Nottingham Forest in July 2001 on a free. Bopp went on to make 77 league apperances for Forest scoring 8 times although he will be remembered by Crewe fans for scoring against Gillingham in the last game of the 2004-2005 season. Bopp scored in the last five minutes to send Gillingham down and gave the Railwaymen a reprive as Crewe stayed up that season by goal difference.

If Crewe sign Bopp then the Millers would be entitled to some compensation.
