Steve Holland's start as first team coach got off to a good start with a 2-1 home win over Brighton but it was mared with a serious injury to striker Nicky Maynard.
Maynard picked up the injury after blocking a clearance from Kerry Mayo, you could see from the stands that it looked serious as Maynard was in some pain.
Early reports coming out at Crewe is that Maynard has sustained a broken fibula and also suffered from ankle ligament damage. The Winsford born stiker has been taken to Crewe's Leighton Hospital for further tests and now looks to have a lenghty spell on the side lines.
Everyone at Crewe MAD wish Nicky all the best and a speedy recovery.
