Crewe bid for Stockport youngster

On Saturday CreweAlex.com reported that Dario Gradi had made a bid for a left-back, but the boss refused to name his target.

However, reports today say that Crewe have approached Stockport County and made a £125,000 bid for their 20-year old left-back Anthony Tonkin.

Tonkin, who joined the Hatters from Yeovil Town in September last year for £50,000, has made only 25 appearances for Carlton Palmer's Cheshire strugglers.

The bid is reported to be £75,000 paid upfront, going up to £125,000 based on clauses.

The Cornwall born youngster, pictured, played for both Plymouth Argyle and Liverpool youth sides before joining Falmouth Town and then Yevoil.
