The stiker hunt at Crewe looks set to carry on as the club have been priced out of any deal for Nick Chadwick.
This seems another blow to the club as the club are still looking for a replacement for Luke Varney who left in May, add the injury to Nicky Maynard from Saturday and the club are short of strikers.
Chadwick had been linked with a move before the season had started and a price of £250k had been muted but Pilgrims boss Ian Holloway said that he had no contact from Crewe.
Crewe technical director Dario Gradi told www.crewealex.net : 'I've spoken to Plymouth this morning to ask about the availability of Nick Chadwick but that any deal is a non-starter. He is beyond our means financially. It is the whole package, the fee that would be involved and his wages.
