It seems the void left by Luke Varney's transfer to Charlton Athletic may be filled by a loan striker.

The had hoped that Tom Pope would step up but the former Biddulph Victoria player picked up a hamsting injury and has missed a lot of the pre-season.

So it seems club have been offered a young striker from a Championship club and Technical Director Dario Gradi told the Official site "We have been offered a striker on loan from a biggish club. He doesn't quite fit the bill of what we are looking for but we will go out to watch him and see if he is better than what we have here."

A few stikers have been mentioned over the summer thses include Lee Barnard of Spurs, Craig Lidfield of Liverpool, Jemal Johnson of Wolves, Dean Bowditch of Ipswich, Adam Rooney of Stoke City and Chris Martin of Norwich City.
