Club announce financial loss

The club this week announced a loss of £1.1million in the Division Two season. However, the sale of Rob Hulse for £750,000 to West Brom with it rising to £1million on appearances means Crewe have something to fall back on.

Gate receipts fell last season compared to the previous season in Division One and lack of transfer income didn't help during the season. The blame is set on the collapse of ITV Digital, as the financial operations manager, Andrew Blakemore, explains:

"The collapse of ITV digital hit clubs hard and we're still feeling the effects.

"Our transfer revenue also went down significantly last year and the money we got for Rob Hulse does not show up in these accounts.

"We will generate more gate revenue this year, but we've not got a cup run to tide us over."
