Chester City away guide.

Crewe are on the road again and this time it is a local derby against Chester City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Railwaymen have not played Chester City for over 12 years in which Crewe won 1-0 at the Deva in league. This was also the same season Crewe crushed Chester 6-0 in the same competition as tonight.

In fact you have to go back to the 1990/91 season for Chester's last win over the Railwaymen this was a 3-1 win that sent Crewe down to the Fourth Division the match that day was played at Macclesfield Town's ground.

The Deva ground was open in 1992 after the club had left their original home of Sealand Road, for a few seasons Chester played at Macclesfield Towns ground.
The ground holds around 6,000 of which 3,284 are seats this now included the south stand as this was converted from a terrace to seats.

Where to Drink

Chester has an endless supply of pubs round the City centre but none near to the ground some of the pubs are Yates, Weatherspoons, Dublin Packet, The Red Lion and the Firkin are just a few to name.

The railway station is around 1.7 miles away and is on the opposite side of Chester allow for at least a 40-minute walk or you could jump in a taxi.

Coach

The official coach leaves at 4.45pm cost £7.50 members/season ticket holders and £8.50 non-members.

Car

Distance from Crewe to Chester is 25 miles.
Go through the village of Littleton to the roundabout. Turn left here on to the A55. After 3.9 miles exit the A55 (signpost Chester A483). At roundabout turn right onto Follow signs to Chester for 2.3 miles and over bridge over the River Dee. Turn left at the next roundabout, into Nicholas Street. Turn left at lights after 0.2 miles into Watergate Street. After 0.9 miles turn left at set of lights opposite Sainsbury's Homebase into Bumper's Lane. Going this way cuts out all the city centre traffic.
Car parking can be at the ground for a fee of £3 or around the Bumpers Lane area.

For the Away fan

The Crewe fans will be in the South Stand along with part of the West Stand for this evening's game. Usual football food is on offer at the ground, which includes pies and no alcohol, is available in the ground.
