Crewe go into tonight's game against Rochdale (19:30 KO) with a host of players out injured or on international duty.
Davis is already without George Ray (Wales U21), Liam Nolan (Northern Ireland U-21) and Marcus Haber (Canada) who are all on international duty although if Billy Water is not called up he would be available for the clash with Dale.
Long term absentees Harry Davis (Knee) and Ryan Colclough (Hip) are still building up their fitness having been out since April and November respectively. While on loan midfielder Jamie Ness is having treatment to a hamstring injury at his parent club Stoke City.
So with Ray away, Jon Guthrie looks to partner Adam Dugdale in the centre of defence and a recall for Greg Leigh in the left back position, while Anthony Grant who started on the bench against Gillingham on Saturday looks set to replace Nolan in the heart of the midfield.
Vadaine Oliver will replace Haber in attack while the club can only announce 5 subs on the bench.
Crewe who won the JPT back in 2013 at Wembley Stadium will be looking to gain some pride after the 5-2 defeat two weeks ago in the league against Rochdale and carry some sort of confidence in the local derby against Port Vale on Saturday 13 September.
