Two of the men behind Crewe Alexandra's transformation over the past twenty years are to be inducted into the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich Roll of Honourary Freemen. This honour recognises the massive transformation of Crewe Alexandra Football Club since the appointment of Dario Gradi in 1983.

Dario Gradi and John Bowler
This award is the highest honour that the local council can give, but a council spokesman said that Mr. Bowler and Dario are more than deserving of the award, which has only been awarded 22 times in 130 years.

"The award recognises the outstanding contribution that both men have made to community life in the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich."

Bowler has massive influence in South Cheshire, acting as Chairman of various organisations in the area, along with his duties as Chairman as CAFC and the Alex Soccer and Community Trust.

This honour accompanies Dario's MBE which he received in 1998 and the Honourary Degree he picked up from Loughborough University this week.

CreweAlex.com would like to congratulate both men on the work they have done towards making both the club and the Crewe and Nantwich area what they are today.
