Brammer's On His Way Out

After signing from Port Vale in 2001 for a hefty £500,000 the ready made captain was an instant fans favourite with his tough tackling no nonsense presence on the field. Many blamed his 6 month thigh injury for relegation in 2002 and it was only right that Bram was to help the Alex back up to Division One with the captain's arm band in 2002-2003.

Last season though he played a void season. His usual form wasn't to be seen and his 6 months out with a pelvic injury saw fans forget he was still at the club as the team went up to 9th without him - but also down to 18th without him. With his contract up at the end of July 2004 many questioned hhis value to the side, for the reported £2,500 wages, but the general verdict was that everyone wanted Brammer to stay.

However, as weeks went on without a word from the club or Brammer it became clear that Brammer was in no rush to stay at Crewe and was infact talking to the likes of Rotherham, Tranmere, Ipswich and Stoke before he spoke to Crewe - and on Wednesday he told Dario he'll be signing for Stoke City.

Already, he's a traitor - I'm not convinced.
