Billy Jones' call up to the England U-19s came as a surprise to Dario and Academy Director Steve Holland. Dario and Holland wanted to play Billy in the upcoming game at Sunderland in the Youth Cup Fifth Round. England are set to play Holland, in Holland, this coming Tuesday and Billy, playing two years above his age group, is set to play.
The FA set the 21st February as the date where all games must be completed by but the FA have given Crewe and Sunderland clearance to move the game to Wednesday 25th February, as Dario revealed:
"We have had good co-operation with Dick Bate (England under-19s coach) over Billy as he is going two years above his age group,"
"Dick has stressed the boy will only play for them and not for the under-17s as well.
"But we did have a problem with the FA getting Billy released for the Youth Cup game. We have now found another date for that"
Crewe's Youth Cup campaign has been the best in recent times, being knocked out within one game in the past two seasons. a win at Sunderland would see us progress into the quarter finals with possible games against last years winners Manchester United and last years finalists Middlesborough.
