Following on from Billy Jones' wonder strike against Wigan, Dario joined the fans in praising the 16 year old.
DG says that the 30 yard volley could go down in history should Billy carry on his early promise...
Dario told crewealex.net: “It really was a tremendous strike from Billy and I’m sure he will remember it for the rest of his career. We were not that surprised by it because we know how well he can strike a football.
“People asked me about David Platt’s goal for England against Belgium in the World Cup and asked if that was the best goal he had ever scored. I said no because he scored an even better one against Stockport for us. I still have a copy of it on video, even though the footage isn’t that great!
“Maybe history will repeat it self and I will be telling people about Billy’s first ever goal for Crewe."
Billy has played just 8 games but each one has been outstanding from the teenager and when players like Moses, McCready, Vaughan and Brammer all return from injury they could find that their place has been taken...
“He will certainly take some shifting from the team because he is playing so well. He is really establishing himself in the side and I will have to use my experience to decide when the time is right to give him a rest. Nature usually tells younger players when the time is right for a break. They usually get a strain and miss a few games.
“He has played well at centre-half, midfield and now at right-back and it is still early days to decide what his best position is. But there is no rush and his passing on Saturday was first class.”
