Billy and Roberts Impress In U-17's

Billy Jones, who at 16 already has made 2 league appearance's, commanded the defence and captained the England U-17s for the full 80 minutes, with U-17 games being 10 minutes shorter. Whilst on a whole a quiet night for the England defence Billy commanded the back line making one or two last ditch tackles. Commentators claiming the 16 year old to be a cut above the U-17 international level.

The game ended all square at 1-1 with two early goals. Aston Villa's Shane Paul curled one in from the edge of the area in the first ten minutes but the lead only lasted 6 minutes in Bristol. The Swiss attacker Costanzo was brought down by England's left back before converting the penalty, he won, past the England keeper.

Half time saw the introduction of Jones' academy team mate and midfield dynamite Gary Roberts who got in everywhere from the centre of midfield and battled hard with his header from a late corner smashed wide. England dominated for most of the match but found the Swiss hard to break down.
