Number One Keeper!
Juan mostrado la puerta
Number one keeper Ben Williams has signed a two year extension deal with
Crewe. The former Man United keeper looks set to start the season as number one keeper although Dario is on the look out for an understudy who will also take on some coaching with the keepers. 23-year-old Williams has had a torrid time in 2006 after viral meningitis struck him down and left him in a coma, now after a speedy recovery the player is in full training and ready to go for the forthcoming season.

While Williams has penned an extension Juan Ugarte has left the club by mutual consent after having his contract paid up. The 25-year-old Basque born striker had signed a two year deal last summer after the Alex beat off competition from a number of clubs for his signature.
Ugarte made his first appearance when
Crewe entertained Oldham Athletic in a pre-season friendly and upon that appearance he scored but after that Juan picked up a knee injury and that resulted in him missing the start of the season. Juan made a return to action in August as a loan striker in the League Cup where the Alex played Lincoln City and subsequently lost 5-1.
He made two sub appearances and found himself down the pecking order, so two loan spells at his former club Wrexham both ended in him picking up a reoccurring knee injury. Juan has spent the last few weeks receiving treatment in
Spain for his knee and failed to arrive back at the Alex. It would seem likely that Juan may make a return back to his former club and League Two side Wrexham.
