Polish defenders Antoni Lukasiewicz and Marcin Kus are on trial with Crewe. The youngsters are both very keen to play in England and have been impressed with the training facilities on offer at Crewe Alexandra as well as being impressed by Dario Gradi and his track record of bringing players through. Both defenders are under contract at their respective clubs and would therefore command a fee.
Polonia Warsaw defender Lukasiewicz is very highly rated in his homeland and captains the Poland U21 side. The 6'2 defender, who can also play in midfield, has already been on trial at Blackburn though they decided against signing him for the £200k asking fee at the time.
Poland 'B' International Marcin Kus is a right back and having begun his career at the same club as Lukasiewicz, has since moved on to Lech Poznan. The defender, who is also 6'2, likes to get forward but also defends resolutely.
Both defenders have been recommended by Crewe's Chief Scout Glyn Chamberlain who also attended a non-league match the other night. The busy schedules of Crewe's respective scouts will no doubt be pleasing for Crewe fans with the club seemingly keen to add quality to the squad in January.
Meanwhile, the club also continue to pursue a Cypriot defender as well as a Dutch defender. Craig Hignett was also playing in a game in which the Cypriot defender's side were involved in at the weekend.
