Spector

Crewe have missed out on the loan signing of Jonathan Spector from Man Utd. The deal had been agreed with the club and the player but late interest from Premiership outfit Charlton resulted in Spector opting for Premiership football. Spector would have been a considerable coup for the Alex as Spector is very highly thought of in the game. The American International was due to go on loan to Blackburn last January but Ferguson decided to keep hold of his young defender. However, the Red Devils have since abolished one of their two reserve teams meaning that they have a wealth of youngsters who they are keen to ship out on loan. Sir Alex was keen for Spector to follow in Eddie Johnson's path and join Crewe, where it was certain Spector would get first team football. However, with the emergence of interest from Charlton, who Spector has since joined on loan, Crewe's chances were increasingly slim of landing the defender.
