Once hailed by Gerard Houllier as "the next Zinedine Zidane", Cheyrou has fallen out of favour at Anfield since his £3.7m move in summer 2002 from Lille. In fact some would say that he has never been in favour, making only 15 first team appearances for the reds, and is regarded by many as a poor signing. However, he has two full France caps and has Champions League experience with both Lille and Liverpool.
The so-called 'relationship' between Crewe and Liverpool often feeds such speculation, and bearing in mind Dario Gradi's "We'll go where the kids take us" attitude, this story doesn't really have much depth. Cheyrou's wages would also prove to be a major stumbling block in any possible move, never mind the fact he is a flop who is generally ridiculed by Liverpool fans.
Remember, it is only speculation and as soon as anything concrete happens, CreweAlex.com, as always, will be at hand with the breaking news.
