Crewe boss Dario Gradi is continuing the search for that elusive big central defender having been unable to identify any suitable candidates so far. Dario, who didn't pay a single penny to an agent last year, has resorted to using agents as he desperately tries to find a defender before the transfer window closes on 1st September.
Since Colin Murdock left the Alex to join Rotherham, Dario has stepped up his search for a defender although the club's efforts have so far been in vain despite the club having had numerous central defenders on trial. Frenchman Yannick Zambernardi and Finnish defender Mathias Lindstrom were just two of the possibilities who were judged to be no better than what we already have.
However, it appears that Dario may have now found his man. It is believed that a defender, who has recently moved to a club in the south, has been unable to settle and is once again ready to move on. Crewe are reported to have been alerted by the news and should the player in question decide to move on, it is believed that Gradi will swoop to bring the defender to the Alex.
