About the Ground

Crewe are on the road again this weekend and next stop is the Fitness First Stadium or better known as Dean Court. The Alex's last visit to Dean Court for a league match was exactly 10 years ago and on that day Crewe secured a 1-0 win with Robbie Savage finding the net in the first half.
A more recent visit back in January 2003 saw us draw 0-0 in the FA Cup 3rd Round with Crewe losing on penalties 3-1 in the replay.
Anyway the ground has had some what of a transformation with the ground now boasting a 10,700 all seated capacity.
Bournemouth have played at Dean Court since 1910 but for those making their first visit since 1996 will notice a major change to the ground. In 2001 the club while building the new stands rotated the pitch 90' to accommodate the building of the new stands.

Where to Drink
The nearest bar in behind the Main Stand, called the Cherry Tree but this is a home supporters bar. The nearest for away supporters is Queens Park Hotel where away fans are welcome also the pub has Sky Sports, beer garden and for real ale lovers Ringwood Best. Also another is The Portman Hotel which also welcomes away supporters and that to has Sky Sports and a good range of beers. For those who like Weatherspoons (Sir Percy Shelley) the nearest is 15 minute walk from the ground and is situated in Boscombe High Street, away fans are allowed as long colours are covered up.

Travel

By train

The nearest station is at Pokesdown (opposite the Bell pub) although not all trains stop there. Bournemouth is only a mile further away from the stadium and a twenty-minute walk from the ground.
As you come out of Pokesdown station, turn right and walk up towards Boscombe. Take a right into Gloucester Road (3rd on your right) and follow the street until it leads you into Kings Park. You should be able see the ground from there.

From Bournemouth Central Station, walk towards the main road by Asda (Holderhurst Road) and then turn left, and follow that road (over the small roundabout) for about a 15 minutes. Walk past the Dolphin and Queen's Park Pubs. As you pass a small roundabout by a telephone box on the corner, cross the road, keep walking ahead and then take the first right into Thistlebarrow Road.

By coach
The official one leaves 07:30 cost £18 members + season ticket holders and £19 non-members.

By Car
Distance from Crewe to Bournemouth is 219 miles.
Follow the A338 towards Bournemouth. The ground is situated on the left of the A338 in the outskirts of Bournemouth. If you keep looking up to the left as you go into Bournemouth you will eventually see the tops of the ground floodlights. At this point take the next exit off the A338 and turn left towards the ground. There is a large car park located at the ground. Alternatively, there is a council run car park, on the opposite side of the dual carriageway, which is handy for getting away quickly after the game

For the Away fan
Away fans are housed in one side of the East Stand. Away supporters are usually given 1,500 seats and have home supporters in the same stands as well, which should give a good atmosphere.
Please also note that the stadium is a no smoking one so you have been warned (Note the stewards may throw you out if you are caught smoking in the seated areas).
