Crewe travel to Leicester on the 23rd September afer progressing through to the 2nd round of the Carling Cup by beating Wrexham 2-0. Leicester manager Micky Adams says that his team will be taking the so called 'micky mouse cup' seriously.

“I know a lot of the Premiership managers have the same priorities as us and that is staying in the Premier League. But I have got a mentality that we have got a decent squad and rotation might be important. It may be a case that we give players a game in the Carling Cup that don’t normally get a game."

“I still want to win games of football. We have worked so hard at this football club to try and get a winning mentality that we see this as a opportunity of progressing so we will take it seriously."

The former Brighton boss also put in a good word for Dario Gradi, "Dario Gradi is one of the most respected coaches in the game. The fact that Crewe Alexandra have to sell to survive is well documented and it seems that on a yearly basis he produces a gem. That is testimony to what he is doing at his football club."

Adams goes on to say that the draw is what he wanted...

”Crewe are a good footballing side and they will present us with a stiff test. But if you are asking me what I would have ideally liked from the draw it would have been perhaps a First Division side and a draw at home so we have got what we wanted."
