29-year-old Abbey joined last summer from local neighbours Port Vale after the Nigerian International was given a free transfer.

Prior to joing the Vale, Abbey made his name at Macclefield Town having five seasons with the Silkmen.

Abbey was given a one-year deal last summer after impressing the club management during a trial spell.

This season Abbey has made 22 appearances this season and has been asked to play anywhere across the back four when injury had struck certain player.

Abbey has now penned a new two-year deal after an impressive season with the Railwaymen and will no doubt be wanting a first team place next season and could succeed Danny Woodards who is being linked with a move higher up the leagues.
