A Word With The Rivals - Tranmere Rovers

Last updated : 30 January 2009 By Tom Donlan

Both sides need the three points, both for differing reasons. Tranmere need them to maintain the pressure on the top six as they hunt for promotion, Crewe need them the help stay in the Third tier of English football.

In what will be an intriguing game on the pitch, Tranmere fan Danny gives us his thoughts on the match and how their season has panned out so far.

"So, Danny...Tranmere currently sit 8th in the league and just a couple of wins away from the promotion zone. How do you think the season has been so far?"

"Our season has been pretty much the same as the others under Ronnie Moore. Decent on the whole but a lot of missed opportunities and 'if onlys'. Last Saturday was a good indication of what we can do when we beat Carlisle 4-1."

"It's currently January, the transfer market is open and players are switching clubs every single day. Tranmere haven't made too many moves this month so is there anyone else who could be in your team by Saturday?"

"It's pretty u
nlikely. We've brought Ryan Shotton back on loan from Stoke which is massive for us as he fills the void at Right Back extremely well and has got a few goals to his name already."

"Say you were given the chance to add a Crewe player into your team, who would you like your club to sign?"

"
I've always liked Steven Schumacher and was surprised we didn't go for him when you did as he always seems to do well against us and looks a handy player."

"Well, this Saturday sees you and your boys taking the short trip to Crewe. We've already met twice this season and you've came out on top on both occasions, how do you see it going this weekend?"

"Fingers crossed it'll be the third in a row! Saturday will be my fifth trip to Crewe and I've yet to see us win there so I think I'm owed one!"

"With you pushing for promotion it's a given that you have some danger men in your squad, who should the Crewe players be weary of throughout the game?"

"Ian Moore is on fire at the moment as we're actually playing him up front rather than on the wing. Antony Kay is our best player but he went off injured on Saturday so could possibly miss out."

"
Similarly, are there any Crewe players that you think may cause your side trouble throughout the game?"

"Tom Pope looks like he's in good form and 2 goals against Peterborough the other day is a decent haul, also if Calvin Zola features he's bound to score against us - all our old boys seem to!!"

"All in all, it sounds like it'll be an interesting game. Got any predictions for the game?"

"Knowing my luck there it'll probably be a 1-1 draw, much in the manner of the one 2 seasons ago!"
