Home and away isn't quite catching

We just can't leave Gresty Road without being mugged these days, only poor Rotherham are the team we've managed to hold back. Travelling Alex fans know too well that the team just can't perform away from home and when they do we're robbed in the final seconds, Stoke and Millwall come to mind.

We've seen some dire performance's outside of Crewe this year. Coventry, Gillingham and Cardiff have to be the worst three, of seven travelling defeats. They have also all come inside of a 5 game winless streak on the road. Well, you can knock that up to six games if you count the Carling Cup trip to Leicester.

It's quite striking how indifferent our home and away form is. The past five away league games have been four defeats and 1 draw, our past 5 home league games have been four wins and 1 draw. Stoke, Gillingham and Coventry are three teams we should be beating whilst Sunderland, Reading and Preston are three teams we should be scared about.

So why are we scared of teams on their own turf, when ability wise we are superior in most positions?

Maybe it's the Arsenal thing, who until Tuesday's 1-5 thrashing of Inter Milan hadn't won away from England in a whole year, give or take 2 days. Maybe we never really recovered from the rather embarrassing thrashing from Wimbledon on the first day - because, lets face it, it is embarrassing when you see Wimbledon only recovered 1 point from their following 13 games.

Then you look at last season. Second best, behind Wigan, away form in the league, and had scored more away goals than anyone else, and were top top league scorers by a mile. What's different to this season from last the quality of opposition?

Or maybe our football just doesn't suit Division One away days. We've never been great travelling in the 1st Division but if the latter is the case then why isn't Dario doing anything about it? Are we just going to sit and watch medicore performance's till, hopefully, luck changes?

Away form is the only thing that stands in the way of the play-offs, Im not going to be all modest about it - we can reach the play-offs! So lets simulate last season's pitch and train on Blackpool beach... do anything to get that fast flowing passing football on the road to pick up points... starting down in Norwich.
