Saturday has certainly filled me with confidence. What it is I don't know. Maybe the way we just simply soaked the pressure and made Chesterfield look very poor, or were they very poor anyway?

We certainly weren't at our best and some players having off days namely Hulse, Walker and Lunt but we dictated the game after 10 or so minutes. Ashton styling his new haircut was comfortable on the ball but again him and Hulse didn't quite work up front as Dario went for a 424 formation. Ashton and Hulse regularly made the same runs and got in each other’s way. Sorvel carried on as he was at Brentford, although not dictating as much and still got the blame shovelled upon him if the slightest thing went wrong, like Ince kicking into the house over the road.

The back four seemed steady but it wasn't hard to defend a bunch of Zidane wannabes. All the Chesterfield squad trying to do little step overs and dropping their shoulder but it never came off and they just made themselves look like fools.

The game was a very dull affair to speak of. Chesterfield were always the ones one step ahead of us for the first ten or fifteen minutes but were being cut out well by our solid back four, who have conceded just 11 goals since the start of December 2002.

Can't really remember much of the first half with a freezing cold temperatures which dropped to 1 degrees during the game and the beaming sun in your eyes and some sort of fog making the other end hard to concentrate on, I must have fallen asleep... standing up. There was one thing when Dean Ashton showed his hidden skill, the skill the Deano haters say he hasn't got because he's sooo lazy, when ball stroked the ball in field and he half dinked and half smashed a curling ball over Ben Williams' head only for it to be palmed away, very well done as well. Oh and mustn't forget the goal, I’ll tell you what I saw... Wright puts his hand in the air. That was it. Couldn't quite make out what happened or witness if the ball had gone in, he could have been fooling us.

At our, the away fans, end the 'blues' were attacking. On loan attacker Folan, from Leeds, stood out a bit by looking like a prat by trying to be good... his main problem was he didn't actually have a shot on goal. There was one great player though. By the name of Ince wore number 13, in goal... oh he's our Ince. Well he pulled off some magnificent saves. One, before the goal... getting like the official site reporting on the start of the match in the middle of the 'match report', well Glynn Hurst (Stockport reject, Stockport reject woahh oahh) fired a shot low heading for the bottom left but Ince literally got his finger tips to send it for a corner.

We saw some great reactions from the Trinidad when Brandon fired in but it hit Walkers leg and deflected into the opposite direction but Ince reacted brilliantly to turn over the bar again. That was it for the first half, I think. 1-0 up but not the most inspiring performance but the crowd was cheered up when "Nottingham Forest 4-0 Stoke City" came from the tannoy - ho ho ho.

The second half was much of the same really. Chesterfield first pressured with a corner bobbling everywhere before Ince collected but after that it was us all the way as we sailed to our 10th away league win of the season...

Ok if you want I’ll go more in depth. Jack and Jones came out pretty bright and especially Jack were causing problems with their pace and many times got the better of Booty on the right side. There were a few corners as well and instead of our usual smash to the far post and get Walton to head down it was different every time. Like practising corners, duh. One that nearly resulted in a Walker goal with Lunt rolling down the line to Ashton who turned and cut inside the area, chipped up for Walker to header but a great reflex save from Ben Williams saw another corner. This one was hit short for Deano to flick on for Walton but instead former Crewie Rob Edwards picked it up.

Time was getting on, slowly, with a dull game. At 20 past 4 you just wanted to go home. It was boring. We weren't going to get a goal and neither were they... well so I thought. We did NEARLY score goal of the season though when Deano took the ball down on the right flank confusing the Chesterfield players with bit of trickery before smashing it 20 yards across field to Jones who hit a first time header to Jack inside the area who did his trade mark 'back heel volley' over his head (or whatever you call it) but didn't have enough time to hit it on goal.

Hulse went off for Lee Bell, who had a new skinhead look, and he was followed by Dean Ashton and then all you could hear in the away end was "Settling for a draw". No strikers and 20 minutes to go... what hope did we have? Well some, obviously. As we did get that goal that settled it though. A very funny goal as well. Vaughan and Tierney (Who came on for Deano) exchanged as Vaughan raced into the area he was brought down just at the by line so he trapped the ball in-between his feet, spun around before somehow flicking the ball to Jack unmarked in the middle of the area who then smashed home with his left foot. Whoo yeah!!!

The last 5 minutes or so was Chesterfield giving up and we taking the piss. Stringing over 20 passes together to cheers of 'ole'. Now we are FIVE points clear of 3rd place Cardiff, amazing. We seem unbeatable and on Tuesday a massive game will be played at Gresty Road with Wigan as visitors, if we win we can put ourselves in contention with a chance of winning the damn division. If we lose and Cardiff win on the same night then we will be right back in the thick of it, if we draw and Cardiff win they close the gap to 3 points. If we win and Cardiff lose the gap is 8 points and means we'll be closer to the top of the table than to 3rd place. There are many scenarios that could happen, Lets wait and see!

After re-reading this i can see how bad my spelling and grammar was. One rule from now on... no writing reports after midnight.
