Disgrace! Disaster!

Brammer drove the team on
Well well well... back to square one. what went wrong?
Confidence was brimming but upfront we couldn't seem to win anything. Rob Hulse had a goal offside which i don't think was offside just the linesman was too scared to give it because Hulsey was totally free in the area following a free kick. After 5 minutes we seemed too have a tight grip on the game and i honestly couldn't see Oldham getting anywhere near the goal and it was a matter of time before we scored. Oldham did get in front after a unfortunate corner as the ball deflected off Ashton from a Oldham cross. The corner drifted in and hit about abit till it fell to Corazzin who just hit and hoped through a crowd of players. But we battled on and controlled the game without making any real clean cut chances. Lunt showed his skill when he forced the Oldham keeper to pull off a class save as the ball drifted into the topright corner from a 30 yard freekick. Then Davey Wright hit the bar with a magnificant effort from 35 yards which he smashed. The ball dipped at the last minute and just too much as it bounced up off and over the bar. I couldn't believe we hadn't gone 2 or 3 up by now. Any other day it would have been 3-1 by now or 4-1. Outplayed the pie eaters.

Im more dissapointed with the fans than the team. Day trippers they might have been but whoever booed the team at half time has no right to call themselfs a fan. Are you really that thick that you think it helps the side when you boo - even if the team outplayed Oldham for 45 minutes?

Second half well it was nothing more than the headline put together. The referee, the so called respected David Ellarey was a disgrace. Oldham were scum with their plan to wind the Alex players up so much they hit out. Firstly the equaliser. Irellavent to be honest, Lunt free kick frm 25 yards floated in Hulse got their first and nodded it down into the net. His 20th of the season and if we sell him - im afraid we'll be selling out promotion hopes aswell.
Ashton injured

Then the penalty. What was Foz thinking? Wayne Andrews got the better of him every time, Foz knew he had lost him so instead of letting him run of just forced him down. Maybe Andrews does like his grass and soil but Ince would have had a better chance of saving it from a normal chance than from a penalty... plus it wouldn't have been a yellow. Supid play from Foster.

Maybe it was the atmosphere from the paked Gresty Road after the equaliser that got Foster in abit of a mess... either way, Foster is sensible enough to know what to do. I think we would have been better taking someone off, Sorvel or Foster maybe, at half time or after the penalty for Vaughan. Vaughans defending has been magnificant this season and he times his tackles perfectly plus the pacy Andrews wouldn't have got ahead of Vaughan too many times.

Finally the sending off. In my viewit wasn't. Foster got the ball and im waiting to be proved wrong. It was a two footed challange and for Ellarey to over rule his linesman is a disgrace. All it was was Foster sliding in with his left foot to hit the ball out of play but Andrews needed to kiss his grass(and Oldham fans to kiss his arse) yet again. The linesman flagged for a throw in, David Ellarey called Foz over. The linesman was less than 1 yard away from the incident, Ellarey was 40 yards away from it!

Top marks to the tannoy guy at the end with an ironic comment congratulating the so called 'referee' on his performance.

Hulse picked up a yellow card for a scuffle where the Oldham players thought he kicked their keeper(If only he kick him that bit harder). That menas he's suspended for the Notts County game. Dean Ashton went off with a hamstring injury - he's out for 2 weeks so that leaves 0 strikers for the Notts County game.

We now sit 2 points behind Oldham back in 5th place. 5 points behind 2nd place, Bristol City and Cardiff. 14 points behind top team Wigan. This isn't good enough. We are throwing away too many point and we need to start performing when playing the big boys. We've played all of the top 6 once and we've taken 1 point - thats pathetic. We've only beaten 1 team who were in the top 6 when we played them - QPR. We can score for fun against anyone beliow 6th place so please please please start doing it against the top teams or the play-offs it will be.
