Bournemouth reaction

Weather nice and fine and a bit crisp. Crewe brought 4 coaches and about 600 fans at the game. Pitch very greasy and just about playable.

Game was quite entertaining especially if you are a Bournemouth fan. They really attacked Crewe from the start and we were unlucky in my opinion to come away with a draw. The main reason was the defence just let their midfielders run at them and kept backing off, it was only luck that saved us and truely great goalkeeping from Ince.

As to our attack then forget it. Jones did not want to know and basically spent the game marking their defender and not attempting to run into space. Miles is OK, shows some good ball control and a football brain but seems to lack pace and the killer striker instinct - he may have done a lot better if partnered with someone decent up front.

Our best attacking came from David Vaughan who was in my opinion easily man of the match (followed by Ince). Davy Vaughan was everywhere and really ran riot around their midfield and defence. It is a shame he got poor support from some of the other players.

Sorvel played well , passing the ball well and going in well for the tackle. Brammer was OK with the tackle but having won the ball 50% of the time would pass it to the opposion - some work needed here I think. Rest of players were just average.

To summarise, I think Crewe came here for a draw and this is what they got. There was a great relief when the final whistle went.

Hurry back Deano, Robbie and Rodney - your team needs you!
