Chris Tardif (13) |
The tall and well built keeper is onloan from Portsmouth this season and is highly rated. He probably denied us from a win with a brilliant full stretched save after a Vaughan header at Dean Court. At the age of only 19 he is only being kept out of the Portsmouth team by Trinidad number 2 keeper Shaka Hislop. He has a bright future though and is going to be the main man who will stop John Miles and Steve Jones breaking the deadlock tomorrow. |
Neil Young (2) |
The well expierenced defender joined the Cherries 9 years ago from Tottenham Hotspur. He has since made over 350 appearences and still only 29 years old. A few years ago Neil had a fright when a injury vs Oldham nearly ended his career but he fought back and when he got back he got the cherries armband and ever since been the ever presant defender who likes to get forward. |
Stephen Purches (3) |
The no nonsense defender signed from Upton Park, West Ham, only 5 years ago at the age of 17. Purches, 23, is now a highly rated member of the Bournemouth squad and ever presant. In the left back position he's rarther like our very own Paul Tierney. He likes to get forward and put in a few crosses. |
Jason Tindall (18) |
Another player pouched from a London club, this time Charlton. In his time in the Charlton youth and reserve teams he won player of the year i 1998. Only played 11 games this season after missing 2 months during October and November due to injury but last season he was ever present in the back line and popped up with the odd goal or two. |
Carl Fletcher (7) |
Carl came through the academy at AFC Bournemouth. making his debut at the age of 18 against Grimsby the competitive midfielder is now a fans favourtie down at Dean Court. Carl has been described as having a 'sweet strike' to the ball and with 14 goals in under 100 appearences it could seem so. Although Carl doesn't have a goal to his name this season. |
Marcus Browning (4) |
Well travelled Marcus signed in the summer on a free. The 32 year old started his career at Bristol Rovers where he turned out for them over 150 times in his 8 years there. He had a stint at hereford in 1992 where he scored 5 in 7 games. He had a couple of years at Huddersfield before being sold onto Gillingham. He played over 60 times for the Gills but was released in the summer, the Cherries picked him up and has since been a regular in the side. Browning scored the last minute goal at Dean Court in the FA Cup 3rd round replay against Southend which saw them win 3-2. |
Garreth O'Connor (12) |
Highly rated O'Connor was signed from Bohemians Dublin in Summer 2000. Described at a attacking midfield player with 'quick feet' the Irish youngster is only in his 2nd full season as a first team player, despite have brief runs in the side before that. |
Wade Elliott (11) |
Wade is yet another highly rated player and came out of non-league to establish himself as a one to watch. Still 24 he ran rings round our players at Dean Court and can damage teams with pace. He has also scored 22 goals from midfield in under 100 appearences. He was a English Schoolboy international and could probably play at a higher level than Division three. |
Danny Thomas (22) |
Signed in the summer from Leciester Danny is very much like Vaughan. Can play anywhere down the left of the field and is very pacey with the ball. Ever present in the starting 11 Danny has 4 goals from the left and is yet to be booked this season. However some Bournemouth fans don't rate him that highly. |
Steve Fletcher (10) |
The tall striker is excellent in the air and Dario said after last weeks match that Fletcher was the only was he could see Bournemouth scoring. Fletcher has been at the Cherries since 1992 and is their longest serving player. The 30 year old has 5 goals in only 21 appearences this season and is the clubs second top scorer, behind Connoll who's currently injured. |
James Hayter (14) |
His partner up front is 23 year old Hayter. His fifth season with the cherries making his debut at 18. He's been in and out of the reds team though up until a couple of seasons ago. He's only scored 24 in over 125 appearences for the Cherries though. |
