Our home form is nothing short of awful. Six defeats isn't mid-table form. Thats not it though. One thing has been ignored and thats our lack of home goals. We have the worst home attack in the top half of the table. We've only scored 21 goals, thats nearly half of the goals we have scored away. It's a good job we've scored alot more away goals than anyone in the league.
Tonight though is the time to put this form to rest. We've been so called taught a lesson 3 or 4 times this season yet we never put the theories we learn into practice. Luton, Plymouth, Peterborough and Bournemouth have all come with the right tactic. 1 man up front and the other 10 playing defensive roles until the last 15 minutes when they put 2 half decent strikers on and hit us where it hurts. I will put money on the same tactic being used tonight, what do we need to get round these ten men defences?
Well firstly our terrible tactic needs changing. Ok if i knew best i would be taking charge of England but at the moment Dario needs to just take a look and see that Hulse as a lone man and Jones and Jack trying to supply him is not going to work. Firstly Hulse is not at his best and needs to be dropped for a player who's relishing every chance he gets... Dean Ashton. Not only is Deano a goal scorer but his sheer talent is enough to scare defenders and when he runs at them they just back off... something which doesn't happen when Hulse runs at defenders, they close in on Hulse. As for the formation, why not revert to the good old 4-4-2? With Wright back for tonight it's a perfect chance to try it out. Dean and Jack up front. Jones on the left and Wright playing as wing back just behind Lunt. Gives us width and goals and is the same formation which sent us into brilliant form during December and January.
Now at the back. The obvious 3 tonight will be Wright, Walton and Vaughan. Walker i don't think is up to it and with Wycombe playing, who adopt the long ball tactic, we will need arial dominance. I would hav Chris McCready with Walton as he was pretty impressive at Notts County.
It's all down to Dario and with David Wright back he will have more options. Lets see if the boys can get a result after that crap which we saw on Saturday.
