Cardiff aren't convincing on recent form though being just as bad as us. Somehow we still occupy 2nd place after 3 defeats in 5. Tonight we go to Plymouth and that is not an easy game. They come off the back of a 6-1 win over Peterborough, who beat us, and the Pilgrims have already taken three points from us this season. Cardiff have Blackpool, which is also far from easy. Blackpool have also taken 3 points from Cardiff at their place.
Not only that but Plymouth and Blackpool both having hopes of the play-offs, all be them faint hopes. So they wont have given up on their season just yet. I would love to say I’m confident about tonight but I can't. Blackpool aren't setting the division alight lately and our form is just utter rubbish. Maybe the arrival of a player with Premiership experience, Stefan Oakes, can lift our lacklustre team but I doubt it. Plymouth looked a frustrating team at our place and looks like we'll need fight and clinical finishing... something we didn't see on Saturday. I can also see Cardiff getting a draw, at the very least, down in the seaside town.
On to another team. Oldham. They are not out of the running. The right results could put them in 2nd place... no-ones even mentioned them this season. In fact if we lose, Cardiff lose and the 3 teams below Cardiff win. We could find ourselves in 4th place and nearer 6th place since November last year.
In my opinion if we don't win tonight the hill will just get steeper everyday. The official sites player interview include the same thing "We want to go unbeaten till the end of the season" and "We know we're the best in the league". Well goddamn show it.
Tonight the same team will probably take the field that drew at home to Vale. New signing Stefan Oakes and Efe Sodje will be on the bench.
