Hotting up now. With just 6 games left we face 6 cup finals, pardon the cliché, one slip up could open the door for 1 or 2 teams. The consolation is that one slip up from Cardiff could end their hopes(Come on Chesterfield!). first though we face the tangerines of the seaside, Blackpool. They are in some turmoil at the moment without a win since the turn of March. Infact two points from a possible 21 is relegation form. Barnsley, Port Vale, Cardiff, QPR and Notts Count have all taken 3 points while Plymouth and Stockport settled for a point.
Blackpool have settled for a mid-table position this season. Offloading some players. Sending players to get past injuries sorted and also giving youth a chance. Along with that they have injuries to a few key players like Richie Wellens and Richard Walker(Not THE Richard Walker).
Over 1,000 Alex fans are expected to turn out at Blackpool, may for the day/weekend out, as the season enters the final straight. We've got the advantage over Cardiff with our point in hand. Also one other advantage which is yet to be recognised is that our next two games are both a day before Cardiffs. This must pile the pressure on them should we win our games.
Cardiff play Chesterfield on Tuesday and with Chesterfield on free-fall it would be a shock if Chesterfield get anything. So winning tomorrow is a must otherwise Cardiff could over take us. Also some goals would be nice which Cardiff catching up on the goal difference front.
On the Alex front. Things are starting to look much rosier. Foster can now return to the centre of defence after 2 months out and filling in at right back in our last game. This means Vaughan and Tierney have returned from international duty so the left side is bursting with quality with Vaughan, Tierney and Stef Oakes. David Wright was going to return at right back but strained his thigh and is now out for a further 3 weeks.
Up front Steve Jones could make a shock return but will most likely be saved for Bristol City on Tuesday after fracturing his jaw.
