In search of 4th place as we visit Swindon...

Hulse sill out and Ashton stays in
We're on a run of 7 wins and 8 wins which is the 2nd best record outside the premiership, only Bristol City ahead of us. Swindon are unbeaten in seven league games - although losing 2 cup games in between - as the cashless club try to avoid the relegation spots.
They maybe seven unbeaten but they've only won 3 of those games and they were against, well not quite world beaters, Mansfield, Wycombe and Huddersfield. We however(time to boast) are 8 unbeaten with 7 wins in those 8. Wins against Blackpool(Twice), Vale, Brentford, Mansfield, Doncaster(8-0) and Barnsley with 1 draw against Bristol City after going 2-0 up has seen us enter the semi finals of the LDV and the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Not only that but we have gone from 7th to join the 5 teams in the runaway pack. Confidence couldn't be higher. We sit 8 points a drift of 7th place but 6 points a drift of 2nd place. So this period of the season is vital with 5 league games in 14 days. Those games are Swindon, Cheltenham, Oldham, Mansfield and Notts County can you see us dropping points in any of those games if we keep our cool and form? That's fifteen points and I reckon them fifteen points will see us 2nd by 5th January. Then I see that Colchester and Huddersfield pop up after that... is that another 6 points? It will take some doing but maximum points from them games is a possibility and being top of the table after them 7 games is far from impossible.
E-mail's to call me mad send them to: editor@crewealex.com I must be able to take the piss if my prediction is right though.
Swindon well, they have the hardest christmas in the league. Us followed by Wigan which is followed by Cardiff only to be followed by Brentford - ooh tasty. Sitting in 18th place they are above Barnsley and only level points with Stockport(haha) just 3 points off the relegation zone. Their record this year is pretty simple... won 6, drawn 6 and lost 9. Their home record isn't great either losing 4, drawing 3 and winning only 3. They've only scored 12 goals at home all season while we've scored 13 in our last 3 home games. So really paper says this game should be a problem but things are never simple at Crewe.
Team news is Rob Hulse is OUT again with his groin strain although there is suspicion he will make the bench so Ashton and Jack stay up front - oh the joy of replacing world class with world class! Vaughan might replace Rix after being left on the bench on Saturday. Which means our squad would be: Ince; Wright, Foster, Walton, Tierney; Lunt, Brammer, Sorvel, Vaughan; Ashton, Jack.

Predicton - 2-1 to the mighty Crewe.
