We've already thrashed Mansfield ealier this season, twice. first time saw 5 different scores in Hulse, Lunt, Walker, Foster and Jack as crewe 'crewe'sd' to a easy 5-0 victory. The a few weeks later Hulse put 3 past them to claim a hat-trik and Jack contributed to a 4-0 win in the LDV Vans Trophy 1st round. Mansfield have conceded a staggering 62 goals so far this season, 9 coming from Crewe. Having said that though they've scored more than any team right up to Oldham in 4th. Their main reason is Iysden Christie - who Dario has praised highly this season - with 13 goals in the league. Mansfield progressed to this round through beating uni team, Team Bath, 4-2. They had a late scare when after going 4-0 up the graduates came back to get 2 goals and squander 2 more easy chances and it took a good goalline save from Stags keeper Kevin Pilkington to deny a chance of a 3rd. We on the other hand scrapped a 1-0 win out of the away tie at Vale Park. Ashton came on to score a sweet winner in the 85th minute. Last year the Alex were one of only 2 teams who got to the fifth round last season, the other being West Brom.In the 3rd round last season we saw off Sheff Wed 2-0 before we came back from 2-1 down to thrash Rotherham 4-2 with Deano scoring 2 beauty's.
Team new for tomorrow is Colin Little is legible to play tomorrow for the Alex but probably wont and White is expected to start for Mansfield. Ince remains in net but Tierney misses out due to him not being registered to play in the FA Cup 7 days before the tie. So Sodje will likley replace him with Walton, Wright and Foster keeping their places. Vaughan, Jack, Brammer and Lunt remain in midfield along with the two on form strikers, Ashton and Hulse, remaining up front. So it's just the one change.
5-0 - to the Alex. Far to strong a side for Mansfield, especially when they have 5 or 6 key players out.
