'Rested'
We've beaten Mansfield and Blackpool convincingly in the 'trophy' Dario says he wants to win as it shouldn't be disrespected. That is echoed by most of the managers left, except Lennie Lawrence but he's a nob anyway, in the LDV Vans Trophy. A hat-trik from Hulse and a single goal from Jack at Mansfield sealed our second round tie at home to Blackpool. After 45 minutes of passing football and Blackpool domination the Alex hit back with Dean Ashtons first goal since March and Jack on a rebound from a Ashton shot, 2-0. The draw was then made... Doncaster Rovers at home. 'Donny' beat Wigan in the last round with a single goal from Albrighton in the 67th minute. Wigan weren't even settling back with Ellington(Overrated), Roberts and Teale all playing for them and are all key players. Then again they did have Beasant in nets.
Before their travel to Wigan they took Scarborough to extra time and a golden goal from Hudson, after scoring 10 minutes from time, sealed their fate. Soas you can see they're no push overs and in the league it shows. They haven't lost a game at Belle View, their ground, and sit in 3rd place in theconference. 6 points off the top with a game in hand. Doncaster had never been out of the Football League in their history before 1998 even though they bounced around
Doncasters Watson is out
in the bottom division alot. However they were relegated convincingly in 1998 with 15 points seperating them from the now 1st division side Brighton and Hove Albion. With just 1 away win and only 3 home wins.... nearly as bad as Stockport.
Do you remember Francis Tierney? Well the once highly rated teenager is now in a Doncaster shirt. In 1995 the 18 year old was on the verge of a dream move to Liverpool but booze and chips deleted that moved and he ruined his career as he dropped down the divisions to Notts County then after achieving fuck all there he moved to Conference team Doncaster. He will probably not be involved due to a hamstring injured.
As for our team well. Rob Hulse sits out this game with a slight groin strain, don't worry though as he'll be back for saturday.... we think. It means Dean Ashton can continue to get confidence in the first team after that stunning curler at the weekend. Clayton Ince will be dropped to make sure he gets no injuries ahead of the Barnsley match while Dave Walton will also sit out in place of the Doorman, Richard Walker. Dave Brammer could be left out in place of Lee Bell but Dario hasn't mentioned anything. Paul Tierney will return to left back slot after missing the Mansfield clash due to being late on signing a new contract thing. So the expected line up is: Bankole; Tierney, Wright, Walker, Foster; Vaughan, Jack, Brammer, Lunt; Ashton Jack.

CreweAlex.com prediction - 3-1 to the Alex.
