Cardiff On Their Way To Cardiff

It was the cruellest of ways to go out for Bristol City. By far the better team tonight but their finishing just let them down. I've said it ever since we played them at Ashton Gate that they're the best team we have played and at Gresty Road we were lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw. Tonight it was 3rd vs 6th but it was, what you could say, the worst of the two teams, from over 46 games, which now could see Division One football. We can't say its that unfair after we were promoted via 6th place in the 96 season. However watching the match between the two rivals it was clear Cardiff were lucky not to have been slaughtered, as Bristol rarely sat back and just bombed Cardiff. However Bristol failed to produce anything except for when Scott Murray went close in the 2nd half when he header was matched by a brilliant reaction save from the Cardiff keeper, Alexander.

Few chances in a very entertaining match but I would have liked to have seen Bristol City go through and found myself willing Bristol on and getting behind them, rather disappointed when they lost. God knows what I would have been like if it was us vs
Cardiff. Made me glad the Alex were up and the agony of the play-offs was not there.

In the 3rd Division play-off Colin Cramb's Bury were knocked out after they were absolutely murdered 3-1 at
Bournemouth.
